Dr B. R. Ambedkar or Bhim Rao Ambedkar, was a well-known economist, politician, and a social reformer who fought for the rights of the Dalit community. He introduced five periodicals such as Mooknayak, Bahishkrit Bharat, Samta, Janata, and Prabuddha Bharat to write about deprived classes. As suggested by the British, he was against the separate electorate for the backward classes. And after a long discussion, a pact (Poona Pact) was signed between Dr Ambedkar and Congress activist Madan Mohan Malaviya. This pact allowed the deprived class to receive 148 seats in the legislature opposed of 71 seats suggested by the British Government. And later this deprived class was recognised as ‘Scheduled Caste’ and ‘Scheduled Tribe’ in the Indian Constitution.

After India became independent, B. R. Ambedkar became India’s first Law and Justice Minister. And later he was appointed to draft the India’s constitution and this leads to Indian constitution.
