Eid e Milad is a renowned festival of Muslims. This day is celebrated as the birthday and death of Prophet Muhammad and due to this reason; the day is aalso popular as Muhammad's Birthday, Nabi Day or Mawlid. Muslims all over the world celebrate this festival with happiness and joy. Via this festival, Muslims in the entire world pay homage to Prophet Muhammad.   • Happiness and Mourning: The first half of the day celebrated as birth of Prophet Mohammad by wearing beautiful dresses and cooking delicacies. However, the second half of the day was spent in mourning of Prophet Mohammad. This time people remember the teachings of Prophet Mohammad, donating the poor, giving charity and donations, recite verses and offer namaz.
  • Day for mercy and Forgiveness: The day is meant for seeking mercy and forgiveness from Almighty.

More about Eid-ul-Nabi

Eid Milad-un-Nabi falls in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal and appeared in the month of October. The festival gained popularity in 8th century after the conversion of Prophet's house in a prayer hall. This conversion was done by Caliph Al-Khizuran. In the 11th century, the day was celebrated in Egypt and later people recited verses from Holy Quran and offered their prayers. The day started observing in 12th century when other Muslim nations such as Syria, Turkey, and Spain. Over the time, the day has become a festival but actually it is not a festival.
