The following are the eligibility criteria for IIT Gandhinagar Ph.D. courses–

Biomedical Engineering

The candidates are required to have degree like M.Sc. in Bioscience/ Biochemistry/ Chemistry/ Zoology/ Botany OR B.Tech./MTech. in Biochemical/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/ Biophysics/ Biomaterials/ Biomedical Engg. or equivalent degree with 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST/PWD)

Chemistry

The candidates are required to have degree like M.Sc in Inorganic Chemistry/ Analytical/ Organic/ General/ Physical/ Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology/ Applied Chemistry or equivalent degree with 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST/PWD)

Cognitive Science

The candidates are required to have a degree like B.Tech/M.Tech/M.Sc or equivalent degree with 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST/PWD) or 6.0 CGPA (5.5 For SC/ST/PWD) on the scale of 10 OR MA or equivalent degree with 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST/PWD)

Electrical Engineering

The candidates are required to have a degree like BE/ B.Tech/ ME/ M.Tech or equivalent degree in Electrical Engg. or relevant Engg. branches with 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST/PWD)

Chemical Engineering

The candidates are required to have a degree like BE/ B.Tech/ ME/ M.Tech or equivalent degree in Chemical Engg. or relevant Engg. branches with 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST/PWD)

Civil Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

IIT Gandhinagar Ph.D. Application Form 2024

The following are the step-by-step instructions on how to apply for the IIT Gandhinagar Ph.D. application form–

• Visit the official website of the IIT Gandhinagar and click on the register button
• Now, get yourself registered using your login credentials
• After logging in, navigate to the application form and start filling out the application form with details like name, address, education qualification, etc.
• Now, upload the documents mentioned below followed by clicking on the submit button
• After clicking on the submit, you have to pay the application fee using your credit/debit card, UPI, etc.
• After successful payment, your application form will be submitted and you can take a printout of the application form and payment receipt

IIT Gandhinagar Ph.D. Fellowship details

The following are the fellowship details of the IIT Gandhinagar Ph.D. course–

• Under the fellowship admission, the candidates will be provided with an allowance of Rs.31,000 per month, if he/she holds the following-
  • Post Graduate Degree in basic science with the NET/GATE qualifications
  • Graduation degree in a professional course like B.Tech./B.E. with NET/GATE exam qualification
  • Post Graduate Degree in a professional course like M.Tech/M.E. with GATE examination qualification
• The candidates having two years of research experience will be offered 35,000/-

IIT Gandhinagar Ph.D. Admission Process

To get admission into the IIT Gandhinagar Ph.D. program, the candidates are provided to take admission under two categories- Regular (RR) and Continuing Doctoral Programme (CDP).  It is a three-year Ph.D. course in 13 research areas. The admission will be based on the academic record, Entrance Test/written test, and personal interview. The candidates having GATE/SLET/CSIR-NET/UGC-NET/INSPIRE Fellowship are exempted from written tests.
