Several prestigious institutes, including IISc, IISERs, NISER, and others, collaborate to organise the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST). JEST 2023 was held at 37 exam centres across the country by the organising authorities, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). The national-level entrance exam was planned to be held on April, 2023, but has been postponed until further notice, according to the official JEST 2023 dates, which were issued online. Applicants were notified that they needed to pass the JEST 2023 exam if they wanted to pursue a PhD or Integrated PhD degree in one of the participating institutes in the below-mentioned tracks.

Eligibility Criteria for JEST Exam 2023

  • JEST 2023 eligibility criteria for MSc, PhD, and Integrated/MSc/MTech – PhD programmes are listed below. Candidates are encouraged to visit the official websites of the various universities/institutes to read specific eligibility criteria for admission to programmes offered at colleges that accept JEST scores for admission.

Eligibility Criteria for a PhD in Physics in JEST 2023

  • The requirements for taking the JEST exam for a PhD in Physics vary from institution to college.
  • Physics Master’s Degree (in all participating Institutes).
  • MSc in Mathematics, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Optics & Photonics, Instrumentation, and Electronics will be considered at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics in Bangalore.
  • At IISc, IMSc, ICTS-TIFR, IUCAA, JNCASR, NCRA-TIFR, TIFR-TCIS, RRI, IISER Mohali, IISER Pune, and IISER Thiruvananthapuram, BE or BTech will be considered.
  • IUCAA will consider applicants with a master’s degree in physics, electronics, astronomy, or applied mathematics.
  • A master’s degree in physics, engineering physics, or applied physics is also acceptable at IPR.
  • SNBNCBS will consider candidates with a master’s degree in physics, chemistry, applied mathematics, biophysics, or biochemistry.
  • At TIFR, BTech Eng Phys will be evaluated.
  • Applied Physics ME/MTech will be considered at NISER

Eligibility Criteria for the PhD programme in Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc (JEST 2023)

  • MSc/ME/MTech. in Computer Science or a similar field, with a strong interest in the mathematical parts of the field.
  • Eligibility Criteria for a PhD in Neuroscience at NBRC according to JEST 2023.
  • BE/BTech/MCA in Computer Science, MSc (Physics/Maths)

JEST 2023 Eligibility Criteria for PhD in Computational Biology at IMSc

  • MSc/ME/MTech?/MCA in any engineering or science discipline, with good mathematical skills and a strong interest in biological problems.
  • BSc/BE/BTech/MCA in Computer Science or related disciplines, with an interest in the mathematical aspects of computer science.
  • JEST 2023 Eligibility Criteria for Integrated PhD Program in Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc  
  • BSc/BE/BTech/MCA in Computer Science or related disciplines, with an interest in the mathematical aspects of computer science.

Eligibility Criteria for the Integrated MTech – PhD Program at IIA under JEST 2023

  • MSc (Physics/Applied Physics) or Post-BSc (Hons) in Optics and Optoelectronics/Radio Physics and Electronics.

Admissions Process for JEST Exam 2023

To participate in the JEST 2023 admission process effectively, candidates must follow the requirements outlined below.

1st step: Complete the JEST 2023 Application Form.

Applicants had to fill out an online application form for JEST 2023. They needed to pay the application cost once they had completed the application form, which they could do online using a credit/debit card or even net banking. Payment of the application fee was likewise only accepted online. There was no other option.

Step 2: Obtain your JEST 2023 admit card.

Applicants were required to obtain their JEST 2023 admit card from the exam’s official website. “Admit cards will not be distributed by post or email,” according to the official website. To the examination centre, bring a printout of your downloaded Admit Card and one of your photo IDs.”

Step 3: Take the Joint Entrance Screening Examination.

Applicants were required to attend for the JEST 2023 exam on the date, time, and location specified on their admit card. The JEST 2023 exam will last three hours and will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the exam date.

Steps to Fill JEST Exam 2023 Application Form

1st step: Make a unique Registration ID.

Applicants must submit their Email ID, password, name, and date of birth in order to fill out the JEST 2023 application form. After registering with a valid email address and providing these details, applicants will receive an email containing account information. A verification link would also be included in this email.

Step 2: Complete the JEST Application Form.

Step 4: Pay the application fee for JEST.

Applicants can pay the JEST exam application cost online using a debit card, credit card, or net-banking. Any other method of payment will be rejected.

Step 5: Submit & Print JEST Application Form

After the applicant has completed all of the preceding stages, they must click the ‘Submit’ button to finish the JEST 2023 exam registration procedure. Applicants will receive an email with their “application data after final submission comprising Unique Submission Number and filled in data” if they successfully submit their registration form online, according to the official website. Aspirants are encouraged to save and save this information for future use. How to Check the JEST 2023 Score?

Step 1: Go to the Joint Entrance Screening Test 2023 official website.

Step 2: Go to the ‘User Login’ portion of the website.

Step 3: Fill in your email address, user name, and password.

Step 4: Select ‘Login’ from the drop-down menu.

Step 5: Download the JEST exam results and print them out.

As part of the outcome, candidates will receive a JEST scorecard. Applicants are encouraged to maintain a copy of their JEST scorecard and result in a safe place. The JEST score is valid for a year from the date of the result announcement.
