Application Form of TIFR GS 2025

The following is detailed information on the TIFR GS Application Form 2025-

  • Visit the official website of TIFR GS and click on the Apply Online button
  • After clicking on the apply button, click on the New Registration button followed by providing your phone number and email ID
  • An OTP will be sent to your mobile number and email ID which you have to enter in the relevant field to confirm
  • After confirming the OTP, you’ll have to log in to your account using your login credentials
  • After logging in, you’ll have to fill out the application form with all the important information like name, date of birth, and other personal information
  • Now, click on the next button followed by uploading thumb impressions, signatures, photographs, and other relevant documents in the preferred quality and size
  • After uploading the documents, you’ll have to pay the application fee using your credit/debit card, Net Banking, etc.
  • After payment of the application fee, make sure you take a printout of the application fee and payment receipt for future use.

Syllabus for Mathematics for TIFR GS Exam 2025

  • Algebra: Definitions and examples of groups (finite and infinite, commutative and non-commutative), cyclic groups, subgroups, homomorphisms, and quotients. Group actions and Sylow theorems. Definitions and examples of rings and fields. Integers, polynomial rings, and their basic properties. Basic facts about vector spaces, matrices, determinants, ranks of linear transformations, characteristic and minimal polynomials, and symmetric matrices. Inner products, positive definiteness.
  • Analysis: Basic facts about real and complex numbers, the convergence of sequences and series of real and complex numbers, continuity, differentiability, and Riemann integration of real-valued functions defined on an interval (finite or infinite), elementary functions (polynomial functions, rational functions, exponential and log, trigonometric functions), sequences and series of functions and their different types of convergence.
  • Geometry/Topology: Elementary geometric properties of common shapes and figures in 2 and 3 dimensional Euclidean spaces (e.g. triangles, circles, discs, spheres, etc.). Plane analytic geometry (= coordinate geometry) and trigonometry. Definition and basic properties of metric spaces, examples of subset Euclidean spaces (of any dimension), connectedness, compactness. Convergence in metric spaces, continuity of functions between metric spaces.

TIFR GS Admit Card 2025

The admit card for TIFR GS can be downloaded from the official website of TIFR. You can take a printout of the admit card and carry it along with you to the examination center. If you fail to show the admit card to the examination authorities then your examination might get canceled.

The admit card for the TIFR GC entrance examination was released on 25 November 2021 and you can download the admit card from the official website of TIFR GS. To download the admit card you can follow these steps-

  • Visit the official website of TIFR GS and login to your account
  • After logging in, navigate to the admit card section and click on the link given
  • Now, provide you registration number, date of birth and other details and click on the download button
  • You admit card will be downloaded, take a printout of the TIFR GS 2025 admit card and carry it to the examination center

Result of TIFR GS 2025

The result for TIFR GS 2025 is not yet released but it is expected to get released at the end of January 2025. You can download the result card from the official website of TIFR GS. After the release of the result, the selected candidates can participate in the interview scheduled and communicated by TIFR accordingly. After the interview process is completed, the candidates selected will be admitted into the TIFR GS into the selected course.

Counseling of TIFR GS 2025

The following is important information on the TIFR GS 2025 Counselling.

Stipend for Students Pursuing PhD from TIFR

Applicants pursuing the following degrees from TIRF will receive a stipend:

• Ph.D. students will get a monthly scholarship of Rs. 25,000/- (raised to Rs. 28,000/- following registering) as well as an Rs.32,000/- annual contingency grant.

• Integrated Ph.D.: Students will get a monthly scholarship of Rs. 16,000/-, a yearly contingency grant of Rs. 20,000/- (increasing to Rs. 32,000/- from the second year onwards), and an annual contingency grant of Rs. 25,000/- (raised to Rs. 28,000/- after registration).

FAQ

What fields of research can I do my Ph.D. research in?

The candidate applying for the TIFR admission for Ph.D. research would have to declare the subject he/she is applying for now, after the candidate clears the entrance examination. They will be provided with options to choose his/her field of research.

Do I have to choose a specific department at the time of application?

Yes, you’ll be provided with an option to choose a specific department at the time of application. The selection will be based on the written test and the interview you’ll be giving.

If my background training is in a different stream, can I still do my Ph.D. in other fields?

The qualification for Ph.D. students is B.Sc. and M.Sc in the relevant fields. The coursework mandated for students with these two qualifications is of course different. If you have a degree in a different (science/engineering) stream, you can still do a Ph.D. in other fields if you are selected through the Admissions process. The coursework you will be required to do at TIFR will be decided when you are admitted, depending on your coursework during the degree you enter TIFR with.

How much is the Stipend for Students Pursuing a Ph.D. from TIFR?
