UGC NET Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria of UGC NET is as follows-

  • The candidate must be a permanent citizen of India
  • The minimum required age for applying for UGC NET is 28 years with no maximum age limit
  • Candidates who have a 4-year BSc program or having a B.E/B.Tech/B.Pharma/ or Integrated BS-MS/MBBS/B.Sc. (Hons)/M.Sc. or equivalent degree/B.Sc. (Hons) or any equivalent degree.
  • The candidates who want to get enrolled in the integrated MS-PhD program must have scored a minimum of 55% marks and a relaxation of 50% for the other categories (SC/ST, Physically and, visually handicapped)
  • The candidates who want to get enrol for an M.Sc. course or have just completed 10+2+3 years of any of the required qualifying examinations are also eligible to appear for the entrance exam
  • To avail the benefit of fellowship, candidates have to complete the required qualifying degree with the required percentage of marks within the valid period of two years.
  • Candidates having a Bachelor’s degree, in the discipline of Engineering, Science, or any other will also be eligible to avail the benefit of UGC fellowship only after the enrolment for a Ph.D./Integrated Ph.D. program within the valid period of two years

UGC NET Admission Process

The Application form of UGC NET can be filled online. The following are the steps by step application process-

  • Visit the official website of UGC NET followed by navigating to the admission tab and clicking on the UGC NET 2023 link
  • After clicking on the link, a page will appear where you have to get yourself registration using your email Id and Password
  • Now, verify the email by clicking on the verification link send by UGC on your email
  • Now, Log in to your account and click on the apply button
  • A form will appear, fill the form with correct information
  • Now upload your scanned passport size photograph and other documents mentioned below
  • Now a payment gateway will open where you have to pay the application fee using Credit/Debit, UPI, Net Banking, or challan
  • Take a print out of the payment confirmation slip and the application for future uses
