Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission 2026-27 Eligibility Criteria
The following are the eligibility criteria for the Navodaya Vidyalaya admission:
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission 2026-27 Class 6th
- The candidate must be a resident of the district where the Narvodya Vidyalaya is located.
- The candidate must have completed their 5th-grade education from a recognised institution, such as:
- A government or government-aided school,
- A recognised private school, or
- The ‘B’ Certificate Competency Course of the National Institute of Open Schooling.
- The candidate’s education must have been completed within the same district.
- The candidate must be between 9 and 13 years of age.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission Class 9th
- The candidate must be a resident of the district where the Narvodya Vidyalaya is located.
- The candidate must have completed their 8th-grade education from a recognised institution, such as:
- A government or government-aided school,
- A recognised private school, or
- The ‘B’ Certificate Competency Course of the National Institute of Open Schooling.
- The candidate’s education must have been completed within the same district.
- The candidate’s age must be between 13 and 16 years at the time of application.
Eligibility for Class 12th
- The candidate must have completed their 11th-grade education from a recognised institution, such as:
- A government or government-aided school,
- A recognised private school, or
- The ‘B’ Certificate Competency Course of the National Institute of Open Schooling.
- The candidate’s education must have been completed within the same district.
- The candidate’s age must be between 14 and 18 years at the time of application.
- A merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidate in their 10th-grade exams.
Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission Application Form 2026- 2027

Narvodaya Vidyalaya Admission Reservation Policy
The following is the reservation policy for admission into the Navodaya Vidyalaya school–
- 75% of the seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to the districts from rural areas.
- 25% are reserved for the candidates belonging to other districts.
- SC/ST candidates will be provided with the reservation as per the NVS policy.
- 33% of the reservation is provided to the girl child.
- 3% reservation for the disabled children.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission 2026-27 Class 6th Result
The result for the Navodaya Vidyalaya will be released on the official website. You can download the scorecard directly from the website. A merit list will be prepared, in which candidates will be ranked based on the marks they have scored. Admission will be granted based on this merit list.

For Rural Candidates:
The admission to the candidate will be provided by following this criterion-
- Candidates belonging to the district will be provisionally allotted 75% of the admission seats from the rural areas. The remaining seats will be open to both urban and rural candidates from the same district.
- Candidates applying under the rural quota must have studied in classes III, IV, and V at Government, Government-Aided, or Government-recognised schools located in rural areas.
- Candidates studying under the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) will need to submit a rural status certificate issued by the District Magistrate, Tehsildar, or Block Development Officer.
For Urban Candidates:
The following are the admission criteria followed for the Urban candidates-
- The candidate belongs to the urban locality, meaning the candidate has studied in a school located in an urban area during Classes III, IV, and V. The candidate will be provided admission under the Urban quota.

There are no separate reservations for transgender candidates. They will be included in the boys’ category for reservation purposes and under various subcategories such as Rural, Urban, OBC, SC, ST, and Divyang.
Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission 2026-27

The test for admission in 6 class for the 2026-27 session will be held on December 13, 2025 (Phase 1) April 11, 2026 (Phase 2).
The test will be held in offline mode (OMR-based) but the application could be submitted online only.
No, there is no separate reservation provision for transgender category and they will be kept in the boys category for reservation purposes.
